With it’s mix of layer back VW show, trade stands and track action on the famous Lydden Hill race circuit it really does offer something for everyone. As club we’re firm supporters of this event and as such whited to help the organisers by letting you all know that the Apex crew are looking for some extra people power.

The team are looking for Festival Makers or Stewards to help run the 2014 Apex Festival at Lydden Hill Race Circuit on 9-11 May. By helping out you’ll be part of one of the fastest growing shows in the UK and have a blast too.

You must be over 18 years old, responsible, reliable and enthusiastic. Clubs welcome to apply too. Ideally you can help for the whole weekend, although individual day help would still be appreciated. Attractive incentive package available. If you’re up for helping out send the team a message via the Apex Festival Facebook page with your details, including an email address, and they’ll get back to you.[/vc_column_text][mk_image_slideshow images=”1491,1494,1493,1492,1490″ image_width=”792″ image_height=”550″ effect=”fade” animation_speed=”700″ slideshow_speed=”7000″ pause_on_hover=”false” smooth_height=”true” direction_nav=”true”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

It’s A Dub Life

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][mk_image image_width=”792″ image_height=”264″ crop=”false” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”simple” link=”http://www.blurb.co.uk/b/4949354-it-s-a-dub-life” target=”_blank” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”center” margin_bottom=”40″ src=”http://paintscrapers.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/rachel-book.jpg”][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”false” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]With Christmas out of the way, and after buying everyone else presents, maybe it’s time to treat yourself. It’s A Dub Life has been produced by club member Rachel Johnston as part of her 3rd year BA photography course. Rachel has been studying photography at the University of Greenwich and you may have come across her pointing her camera in your direction at many VW shows over the last few years.

It’s the marriage of her passion for photography and love of VW’s that has driven her to produce this book as part of her final year project. It’s A Dub Life is a 32 page, full colour publication completely published by Rachel herself. Each shoot covers a double page spread, showing both owners and their VWs, delivering a great example of the personalities within our scene. Although started as a photographic project, Rachel encouraged each owner to explain their own story and has included the stories to complement her images.[/vc_column_text][mk_image src=”http://paintscrapers.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/It-s-A-Dub-Life02.jpg” image_width=”792″ image_height=”400″ crop=”false” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”simple” link=”http://www.blurb.co.uk/b/4949354-it-s-a-dub-life” target=”_blank” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”center” margin_bottom=”10″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”false” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]Even though this project was a lot of work Rachel thoroughly enjoyed producing it and is now considering continuing throughout the coming season, so I guess we should look out for volume 2 soon. After Rachel graduates next summer she has her goals set high and would love to become a commercial photographer, shooting features for magazines and advertising.

It’s A Dub Life is available in both hard and soft cover which you can order direct via Rachel’s blurb site.

You can find more examples of Rachel’s photography on her Roo 92 Photography Facebook page.[/vc_column_text][mk_image src=”http://paintscrapers.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/It-s-A-Dub-Life01.jpg” image_width=”792″ image_height=”400″ crop=”false” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”simple” link=”http://www.blurb.co.uk/b/4949354-it-s-a-dub-life” target=”_blank” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”center” margin_bottom=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Dave Warren Images Christmas gift ideas

dw001

With Christmas is on it’s way Dave Warren has been in touch with this great gift idea. Get your loved one, or yourself, the entire photo collection from the DWI Brads Calendar on 15 individual packed 6″ x 4″ greetings cards with envelopes, for only £15. The bad news? Dave only have 3 sets left and when they’re gone they’re gone! You better get your skates on and send Dave a PM via his Facebook page.

If you’re too late, but still after a cracking gift then Dave still has his 2014 calendar available. The 13 month calendar is superbly printed and features all the images you see above – a different model, classic VW and location on each page. You will have noticed a couple of Paintscrapers VWs in there, namely Steve’s Razor and Anton’s Barndoor pick up. As with a lot of things in life there is a downside, You’ll have to put up with Anton posing for a whole month…

Anyway, all the models, car owners and venues gave there time for free as did Dave himself and all profits from the calendar go to Brad’s Cancer Foundation . To get you hands on one or more of these great calendars head on over to Dave’s Facebook page or buy on ebay here.
